Growing up in a middle school teacher's family in China, Mei Jiang, Ph.D., learned from her mom that the best teachers teach from the heart, not from a book. That’s why she cares for students' learning and growth. As an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Special Education at A&M-Commerce, Jiang’s professional goals are to disseminate knowledge and nurture students' intellectual, cultural and social growth to prepare them for real-world challenges. Her personal goals are to travel to different countries and taste different foods. She has experienced many cultures in her travels, including Iceland and Vanuatu.

What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending A&M-Commerce?

As a faculty member who values student-centered teaching philosophies the most, I make sure the students in my statistics and research methods classes receive the quality education they deserve. Here at A&M-Commerce, I'm proud to see my students become more confident about statistics after taking my courses. A&M-Commerce is where students grow academically and apply what they learn in the workplace!

What do you like most about your career?

I truly enjoy helping students grow!
